My Personality

  • I Like: Watching football on Sunday afternoons, playing sports, chips and salsa, fishing, surfing…
  • I Love: Spending time with my family, Pei Wei, Chocolate chip cookies with milk, going on walks with Jen, the ocean.
  • I’m Addicted To: Strong coffee and aAnything with ketchup or BBQ sauce on it.
  • People Say: I am friendly and easy to talk with, I have nasty feet, and my voice carries—which is a nice way of saying I’m loud.

About Me

I grew up as a missionary kid in Colombia, South America. I graduated from Multnomah Bible College in 1986 and have been working in youth ministry ever since. I was a youth pastor at Change Point Church in Anchorage, Alaska for 11 years. In 2002 Jen and I joined Reign Ministries and have loved every moment of it. In addition to leading a team every summer I also work with youth leaders and youth pastors through out Latin America, training them in how to develop a disciple-making youth ministry. My favorite thing about working with students and youth leaders is watching them fall in love with Jesus and desiring to follow Christ with their lives.

    Hey Curtis,
Steve is being deployed to Afghanistan on Aug.1, 2011 and will be gone for a year. I was thinking (I think God gave me this crazy idea!) that since there is really no reason for Conner, Brycen and I to be in AK while he is gone maybe we could go to help out in a mission somewhere. The boys could go to school and I could help out in what ever way they might need. I could teach English, help in an orphanage, pretty much anything. We would not need to raise support because we have Steve’s income. I could pay for our housing, school, food, everything. What do you think?? I have a couple of other contacts about this so I’m just putting the word out. Would you please give me a call when you get a chance?
    Talk to you soon. Thanks,
    Kathy Henslee

Prayer Request
by Curtis Burnam November 11, 2011

I would like to ask you to please pray for me as I will be in El Salvador the 11th through the 19th. I will be training youth leaders in three different parts of the country. I am doing two follow-up seminars and one new seminar in San Salvador. Please pray:

  • I would stay healthy,
  • For safety travelling around the country.
  • That I would communicate clearly.
  • For Jen and the kids while I am gone.

EuroQuest Status Update

by Curtis Burnam August 9, 2011
We are on our last day of our long Euroquest summer. I have thoroughly checked things out and everything is safe in our area. As for the rioting, last night they shut businesses down in the nearby commercial area in case the rioting would migrate to our borough, and thankfully it was quiet. We are safe [...] Read more »

We led the worship service, a couple of students shared testimonies, our dance and drama performed, and I was asked to preach. Our team did a great job and was a huge encouragement to the church. After church they [...] Read more »

Hi Parents and friends, I just wanted to take a moment to communicate from London about the riots you may have heard about. As you know, the riots started in Tottenham, which is about three miles (15 minutes) away. We are staying in a church in a residential area in Trinity-At-Bowes. The rioters are a [...] Read more »
