How would you describe Royal Servants? See how others are here: http://threewords.me/royalservants

  • AKgirl2313

I live/work at a children’s home. In the past, several of our teens have gone on missions trips with another non-denominational (Christian) missions organization that specializes in short-term missions as well as discipleship training. My daughter wanted to choose a different place this summer and is interested in going on the Costa Rica trip with Royal Servants. I would like to know how others trips have gone and what the overall views are of this organization. My e-mail is AKgirl2313@aol.com. Thanks ~ kym croft

    • AKgirl2313

I am also wondering, is there a type of “boot camp” for training before you go? The other organization had a week or two of training specific to what the teens would be doing on the field.

    • Tom

      Hi Kym,
My name is Tom and I am the director of Royal Servants. I’d love to answer your questions and will be sending you an email later today!

  • i-have-some-questions

after everything is paid for and all the extra expenses are paid, how much does it cost? also, if you begin fundraising but you dont make enough, what happens to you and the money you raised?

    • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

It depends upon your situation. You must cover the cost of the trip, which includes your spending money. If you don’t use all your spending money, you take it home with you. You have to get to the starting location in Chicago. That depends on how far away you are and which of your available options you choose. Do you have a passport? Here is a list of possible other expenses you may incur in going: http://www.reignministries.org/royal-servants/trip-overview/mission-trip-preparation-expenses/.

About raising enough: see if this helps–http://www.reignministries.org/newstream/1524/what-if-i%E2%80%99m-unable-to-raise-enough-mission-trip-support/

  • i-have-some-questions

thanks, that helped. however its already January. when should i start fundraising and when do i need to sign up by in order to particapate in a mission trip? also, does the money we earn fundraising go to the airfair to get to chicago?

    • i-have-some-questions

also, when do i need the funds by? do i have to “turn them in” somewhere? or do just keep them untill we get to the training camp?

      • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

Its important that you and your donors send their gifts as they make them. You will have to have a certain balance in your account by mid May to garauntee your international plane ticket.

    • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

The first thing to do is download and complete your application. Then send it in with your $40 application fee. When we receive it, we send you a Prep Packet and fundraising materials. The prep packet is already available on line too. The fundraising materials include instructions, a sample letter, a sponsorship card, and return envelopes. Your donors mail their gifts directly to the office and we credit the gift to your fundraising account.

Now is a good time to sign up! But, we we will have students signing up all the way into April, May, and possibly even June. You are not too late at all. Students who sign up earlier are under less pressure and have an easier time raising their support. So, if you want to go, I wouldn’t wait.

If you raise more than required for the airfare, ground fees, and spending money, you can use the extra to help pay for your “domestic travel”–your flight to Chicago. A lot of students do this.

hey,iam really seriosly thinking and praying about going into a mission’s trip,im not sure how, when, where but i know that god will lead me somewhere in this ministery, please pray for me! katie williams

    • Anonymous

Hey Katie, we are very glad to hear that you desire to come on a trip with us this summer, and are willing to go where God leads you. Please feel free to contact any of our team leaders directly if you have specific questions about the trips.

  • Nicole

    Heyy :)
iam wanting to go to a mission trip!
i have half the money to go but i dont half what can i do?

    • http://themeadens.wordpress.com Brian Meaden

      Nicole,
Great that you are wanting to go on a mission trip! I went when I was in high school and now I work full-time in missions! That is awesome that you are already half way there for the cost of the trip! The first step would be to download an application and send it in. Once you send it in, we will send you a support raising kit. This kit has step by step instructions on what to do (very handy…). It will guide you through the process of raising your support (just like a missionary would do). It can be tough, but if you work hard, it pays off. :)

      • Nicole

        Thanks Brian :)

  • Chelsea Burns

So, I applied (and got accepted) to go on the China Mission trip. I got my prep packet and everything, but I’m having some doubts about if this is where God wants me to be this summer. I’ll take some time to pray about it, but if I feel it’s not where he wants me, how would I go about canceling it or whatever, and by when should I cancel it? Also, if I decided to cancel it, but people still send money to my account, will that be kept in my Royal Servants account for next year?

    • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

Hi Chelsea. I will be praying that God gives you clarity. I will also let Tom (team leader) and Margerat (admin guru) know about your comment here so they can be praying and help you too.

    • Margaret

      Hey Chelsea,
To answer your questions. To cancel going this summer, just send an email to royalservants@reignministries.org. Yes, your funds will be held over in your account for 1 year. You can read more about our cancellation policy in the student Prep Packet on the bottom of page 11. You can cancel at anytime, however, we will start booking international flights around May 10th. Praying for you!

  • Ashley

Hi, I’m really feeling God calling me to going on a mission trip, well I was talking with my mom about it and she thinks i need to stay here (she feels that because God hasn’t answered her prayers yet He’s saying no) to help move, and stuff. My Dad says yes, My mom says no (or maybe), and God is saying Yes. I’ve told her that God has given me an answer about this mission trip and she isn’t believing me because she thinks that I am just saying that so she says yes so I can go. But I really feel Him telling me to go. Can you pray for me about this? thank you! Ashley

    • Margaret

We’ll definitely be praying for you and your family!

    • Tom

      Hi Ashley,

I saw the comment you posted on our website talking about your mom’s reluctance to allow you to go on a missions trip, even though your dad is okay with it.

I’m sorry. I wish it could be different for you because it can be really frustrating! There as so many parents who would give their right arm to see their children go on a trip, yet you want to go and your mom is hesitant. I talk to so many students who are in the same situation as yourself.

It’s a parent thing and something you can’t really understand until you have kids of your own. Underneath it all, your mom might be afraid you’ll get hurt and she’d be unable to help, or afraid that you’ll not be able to raise the funds and then disappointed; it might also be that she is finding it hard to let you go…to have you so far away. Lot’s of parents struggle with this. In the midst of these things, it’s hard to hear God’s voice. But there is also the possibility that God hasn’t given her a peace about it yet, I don’t know.

Ashley, I’d love to have the perfect solution that would guarantee to change your mom’s heart, but I don’t. However, I would encourage you to pray and ask the Lord that if a missions trip is His desire for you, then He would cut through whatever it is that is holding your mom back. And if His desire is for you not to go, that He would then give you a peace with the decision.

      Blessings and Peace!
      Tom

Hi Rose, Participants fly into Chicago where our staff picks them up and transports them up to our training camp near Portage, WI. That is where all of the training takes place. The training begins on June 18 for Staff Disciplers (college age) and June 25 for students (13-19).

  • Erin

Ok. I’m a junior in college at my fourth school. I had a rough first couple of semesters and I kept jumping around. Last semester was the worst for me and it left me feeling really beaten down and frustrated. I grew up in a Christian home but my faith has been through a roller coaster over the course of my lifetime and the summer before this past semester, I all but rejected my faith.
But as bad as last semester was emotionally, spiritually it was amazing. God broke me down completely and placed people in my life that I would never trade for anything. I learned so much about myself and my faith and I ended up re-dedicating my life to Christ in October. Between now and then, not a day has gone by that I haven’t seen God working in my life. I’m continually overwhelmed at what He is doing and showing me. I transferred to a new school and have never felt so settled and sure of being where God wants me.
My whole life, missions has been a forefront topic. I went to a very mission-minded church and was always hearing stories from the missionaries about their experiences. In high school a lot of my friends went on missions trips. I loved hearing about them but I always wanted to go on one myself. I tried a couple times to go on a team with my church or through an organization over the summer, but it never worked out for me. I have always felt God moving me toward missions in some aspect. But I know now that my heart was never in the right place for me to serve others. I believe that up until now, God has been working in my own life and preparing my own heart so that I may effectively work for Him in the lives of others. Since surrendering my life to Christ, missions keeps coming up in my life and is weighing on my heart.
I would love to do missions in some capacity over the summer. I’ve seen that Royal Servants needs college students for summer trips and I would love to be a part of one of these teams. I’ve been praying about doing missions and I will continue to do so to see if Royal Servants is where God wants me. But I guess I’m just looking for more information on the trips and what role college students will be playing to see if this is a good fit. I’m really excited for this experience.

Greetings, my name is Vola Ranaivoson and I’m originally from Madagascar but now have been living in the US for 6 years and prior to that growing up in different countries.. I was wondering if my citizenship would have an effect on if i could be a part of the team or not?

    • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

Possibly, but we do have students with other citizenships participate. It really comes down to the trip, your own citizenship, and entrance requirements for particular passport holders. I suggest you give Tom Ives a call. He is the director of Royal Servants and he is the quickest means to getting a final answer. He can be reached at (612) 747-5426.

  • Ken Garner

Margaret, I have two daughters that I would like to go on a foreign mission trip this Summer. Can you tell me when they should have their applications completed? Can they travel and stay in the same housing complex? About how much does it cost per teenager?

    • Margaret

      Hi Ken,
There is no official deadline for applications (accept of course before the trips starts;)). However, a couple things to consider in deciding when to apply are: 1. the week of May 10th we’ll be booking all of the international tickets. For those who apply after this, they run the risk of airlines costs going up and tickets not being available for the trip of their choice. 2. Cost. For those planning on support raising (which is most everybody), this is a good time of year to start.
As far as lodging and costs go, I’d need to know which trip to give specifics. However, I can say that they probably wouldn’t be in the same room/tent, but would be in the same camp/hotel/church. To check out prices for the trips go to http://www.reignministries.org/royal-servants and click on the trip of choice. The prices are listed towards the bottom of the page.
Hope that helps. Feel free to email me with any other questions you have!

  • Kennald2011

I saw that the age for Kairos started at 18. Can someone still apply for Kairos if they turn 18 a few days after it starts?

    • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

Yes. That should not be a problem. The Kairos Discipleship School is working in Honduras and is about to return home. I will have Kevin or Erika follow up with you about your specific situation.

i am unable to go this summer but i am planning on it next summer but i was just wondering how much it cost for the Costa Rica soccer mission trip

    • http://themeadens.wordpress.com Brian Meaden

      Mporter94,
It would be great to have you on one of our mission trips! The Costa Rica mission trip this summer is $2940. That price includes your spending money, flights, food, etc… You have provide transportation to and from Chicago on top of that. You may expect the prices to either stay the same or go up in price a little bit next summer with inflation. You sure you can’t make it out this summer? :) I’m the Costa Rica leader and we would love to have you!

  • Kevinz

My daughter is planning (has applied and been accepted) to go on the Nepal trip this summer. How is the visa handled? Does Reign apply for these? Or are we responsible to obtain these? It did not seem to be clear in the information that we received.

    Thanks.

    • Margaret

Hi Kevin! We will be mailing out the visa forms and instructions within the next couple of weeks. The Nepal team actually don’t apply for their visa’s until they land in Kathmandu, so they just have to have everything ready before they go. We’ll send out an email and mail a hard copy of the forms. Let me know if I can help with anything else!

Is it too late to sign up for the Ireland trip? I want to go so bad, and just found out about this awesome organization.

  • Michael Cray

Hello! I am an English teacher and a Christ lover — both of which have really created a desire in me to reach out and help others. However, my school does not get out until June 23rd… would there be any way possible that I could apply and go with the students on the 25th, but participate with the staff once I get there? Your services really have spoken to my sister and me — we would LOVE to help!

    • Margaret

      Hi Michael,
Give us a call so we can talk! 763-535-9555.

  • Jules

I’m having a really hard time getting enough fundraising. I’m getting stressed out because the Italy trip leaves in 3 weeks. Any suggestions?

    • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

Hi Jules, thanks for commenting. First, keep your eyes on the Lord and be careful to do anything you feel He is leading you to do. Second, trust Him with your future. I know this is hard, but He is at work to build your faith in Him. Third, have you called the people you asked to support you? This is very important. Fourth, many students do not see all their support come in until after they come to Training Camp. Be strong and keep your eyes on the Lord.

    • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

Hi Judy. Internet accessibility, and therefore email, at this location in India is still unknown. I will keep you posted. I will see if I can get a list of students first names, but it will take a bit. I will keep you posted.

  • Pattik

Have you heard anything from the Costa Rica team?  It shows their flight landed in Mexico City, is that correct?

Hi, We thought that we might be more apt to get an e-mail or call from our daughter who is on the sierra leonne team when they got to London on Monday.  Is it part of the debriefing process for them not to contact home?  Family is asking and I was just wondering.  Thanks.  Jodee Zerby

  • Katrina Parkerlove

hello my name is Katrina, i am 17 years old and not too long ago God told me that i was called to Africa to serve.I don’t know exactly what province he has called me too yet but i know i am called and surprisingly i have no fear whatsoever of how i am going to get there or anything because in my life he has showed himself faithful many times to me. i live with just my mother and we are not the richest family in the world and my mom just lost her job but yet the bills seem to get paid and i never go starving so i know that God will provide if he wants me to go on this trip. i was planning on going on this trip sometime in 2015…..now i understand that is a long ways away but i am going to go through a internship at a church in vacaville ca for two years. then i feel like after that is the time wants me to go. so if you would let me know what we would do over there like what the schedule would be that would be great so i can pray about and see if this is the right thing for me my email is     katrina.parkerlove@yahoo.com thank you

    • Deikenberry

      Katrina,

I was the leader of the 2011 trip to Sierra Leone, Africa and we just had an amazing summer of ministry!

I’m thrilled that God continues to stir a desire in your heart to serve in Africa! It is a wonderful continent with great need.

And, you are absolutely right…. God is ALWAYS faithful… it’s a part of His character, who He is.

Our schedule?… well it varies from day to day, depending on where we are and what ministry we have planned for the day. But, generally speaking, a day will include an hour of quiet time to hear from and talk with the Lord (mostly through prayer and Bible reading/study and journaling) an hour or so in your discipleship group (helping each other grow in your relationship with Christ), and on most days a Biblical teaching from one of the team leaders. In addition we have to make time each day for personal hygene, preparing and eating our meals, get adequate sleep, and the other things necessary to stay physically and spiritually healthy to do ministry!
Then, we usually have a day full of ministry that may include loving on orphans, sharing the
Gospel at large gatherings or from home to home, picking up trash in the
streets, encouraging African teenagers who already know Christ, or a variety of other creative ways to show and share Jesus Christ.

That is an oversimplification of what a daily schedule can look like. For more information and specifics you should go to the Sierra Leone facebook page and interact and ask questions of students who were just there last summer! The URL for that page is: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=hpskip#!/groups/169875029720157/

How do you know when and if He wants you to go? Stay surrendered to Him, keep seeking Him above all else, and be willing
to go anywhere, anytime, and do anything for Him and you will see Him
work in wonderful ways in and through you…leading you into His perfect will for your life!

      Take care and… be God’s!

      Dave Eikenberry,
2011 Royal Servant Sierra Leone Team Leader

When is the date when you cant sign up anymore for the ireland trip?

    • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

There is not hard-fast date. It depends upon the airlines and available seats. If you sign up by April 1 though, you should be good. However, if you are going to raise support, I encourage you to sign up earlier. The more time you have the better.

  • shanee shmuel

any new updates on the trips?

  • Jamie

I feel like God is calling me to go to Nepal this summer. I have a few concerns though. First of all, I’m diabetic and only 13 years old. I’m afraid I might not be able to take care of myself without my mom?!?! I would also like to ask yall to pray for me to be able to raise the money and get the provisions that I will need to go. If any of you have been to Nepal before could you please give me some tips?
    Thanks!!! God bless! -Jamie-

    • http://getentangled.com Mark Hoober

Give Tom Ives, the Director of Royal Servants, a call on his cell phone: (612) 747-5426. He knows exactly what needs to be consider for diabetics on a mission trip. He will be a huge help. You can email him too at tives@reignministries.org.

  • Thomasmpmann

If you are 20 years of age, can you still apply as a student for the trips?

    • http://twitter.com/MargaretFischer MargaretFischer

      Hi,
Our students are those in jr high or high school, from 13-18. At 20 you would be considered in the role as a staff discipler http://reignministries.org/royal-servants/college-age/. If you don’t feel experienced enough to be a staff discipler, don’t worry, we have our staff disciplers come in for a week of training. We will make sure that you are fully equipped for the role.
If you have more questions or concerns about being a staff discipler, send me an email and we can talk more about the role or other options for you. mfischer@reignministries.org
