School Closed Today Due To Icy Roads by Danielle

Here in Michigan God had some plans that were not our plans. We arrived at our first speaking location, a local middle school, walked up to the front doors armed with our displays and there stood a sign. The sign said “School closed today due to icy roads.” Well, that was an interesting sign to read, so we stood in the entry way and sent up sweet aromas to God for the students of that school and for the town.

We proceeded to a small private Christian college to set up a booth and talk to students. We really didn’t have much of a direction of what we were to do and how it would look, but we went in sending up prayers to be used. Chris Evans led the group by encouraging us to split up, walk around campus, pray and talk to students we saw. The school was, at most, 400 students. Strong and quiet rang through the halls, yet we went on and split up doing what we had been prepared to do. A few walked around and prayed over the buildings, others went to the cafeteria and hung out with students just sharing in life together. How amazing it was to walk up to complete strangers and just tell them you had given up 10 months of your life to just follow God and see how they respond.

Many opened up with sweet stories of how God is working in their lives, how they wish they could do more, how they felt called but didn’t know how to take the first step, or how they were just craving a spark to be lit into a flame in their school. These stories were encouraging for for both parties, just what the body of Christ was intended for. One group started talking to a student and ended up worshiping and singing to God for a few hours. It was a sweet sound that filled the halls of that college, many were surprised or confused. Many students took pictures and commented how refreshing it was and how they have been praying for the Spirit to really move on the campus, and here we were, a bunch of random kids just doing what God called us to do. “To love the Lord your God with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength,” to live in a continuous state of worship, and we were used in a powerful way, I believe that God is beginning an amazing work on that campus and many sparks are going to be flamed for a consuming fire for the God of the universe! He sure has been capturing the hearts of the Kairos students causing us to yearn for more of God in every way and in new ways.
