Kairos Discipleship School June Update

Over the past month our students have had many opportunities to put into practice the things that they have been learning about leadership.  Our Kansas City Outreach, wilderness trip to the Boundary Waters, and internship at the Reign Ministries office were all a huge success!

It was stretching for many of our students to get out of their comfort zones and lead in unfamiliar territory.  They all did such an incredible job!  This past week was our “debriefing” week for Kairos Discipleship School.  I had the opportunity to sit down and talk through the entire year with each student and their small group leader.  It was awesome to hear what God did in our students lives over the year, encourage them, and speak into their lives as they transition in their summer role as staff disciplers with Royal Servants.  Here is just one testimony of what God has done this year….

I can think of no better word for this program than Kairos, “a set apart season for focused and intentional growth.” I first learned about Kairos Discpleship School at training camp last year and my heart jumped. It seemed like an awesome adventure! If I sign up for this program I get to go to Honduras, the East Coast, Minnesota Boundary Waters, Arkansas, and Ireland and grow and learn about God at the same time?! Sign me up!

Although, the struggle of actually overcoming all the obstacles to get there was not that simple; I had to put my trust in God to get me here and to raise the funds but he did it and has been romancing me ever since. Over the year the veil of lies covering my face has been lifted and the truth of who God and who I am has been coming into focus. I have learned about His perfect Father Heart and His desire for me. Some other things I've learned about this year are prayer, forgiveness, repentance, spiritual warfare, works paired with faith, patience, trust, humility, leadership, servant hood… the list goes on and on!

I feel as if am now a fully equipped soldier of God willing to put my foot forward where He tells me, with Him as my shield and strength. Just as a sword is forged in a fire and cooled in water I feel as if God has been doing the same to me this year.

Sunday morning we left bright and early to head to the Royal Servants Training Camp in Lewistown, Illinois.  Our students will be going all across the world this summer serving as staff disciplers for their discipleship groups of jr. & sr. high students.  They will be going to Ireland, India, Nepal, China, and Sierra Leonne.

As the students are all serving overseas this summer, I will spend just over a week in Wisconsin with my family and then head back to Kansas to prepare for our next class coming in next fall.  There are so many exciting things happening here at Kairos!  I am looking forward to getting things in process as we prepare for our largest class yet!

Prayer Points…

  • For our students as they put all that they have been learning into practice this summer.
  • For our plans and preparations for next fall.
  • That God would provide host homes for all of our students coming in the fall.

Thanks so much for your prayers and support!
Erika.
