Nehemiah: Building Relationships

Hello Everyone.

As I blog, our Nehemiah family is going through the preparations for putting on a program tonight for the Slovakians children and teenagers we have been working with and their families. Today was the last day of the camp we’ve been running here in Slovakia, and we’re ending our ministry here strong.

The week here has been so impactful. Our ministry consists of spending half our days teaching the kids conversational English (or, playing games with them that they enjoy while speaking to them in English and hopefully improving their comprehension) and the other half we spend playing sports. While it’s good that they got a chance to learn American slang and participate in the sports, the whole point was for us to be able to build relationships with these amazing Slovakian teens and children.  It was a pretty fun way of doing it. As the week progressed, they became more and more comfortable with us, and we became more and more open about our faith. Several people from our team felt led to share their testimonies with the group, and it was pretty awesome to see how God was able to move through these stories. I was so proud of my family members’ ability to be open with their testimonies, and it really made an impact. Our God has an amazing plan for how this is all going to play out, and it’s been pretty great to look back and get a small glimpse of how he may be moving.

So, as we begin to wrap up our ministry here we work to keep focused and end strong. Sometimes this can be harder than it sounds, but at least we have each other to stay grounded. Next, we move to Vienna to begin to prepare for the next season of our lives.

God Bless You!

Kim Waters
