I just wanted to share a story from when I went on Royal Servants in 1989. We were instructed to write the name of someone on an index card that we were going to pray for all summer. I wrote the name down of two of the girls on my cheerleading squad and prayed for them the entire summer. When I returned home I immediately left again to go to cheerleading camp. While there I was able to share my faith and one of the girls that I prayed for all summer became a Christian there at cheerleading camp.

We are still good friends, and although I’ve shared this story throughout the years, something really hit me recently. My daughter sent this friend a support letter, and when I saw my daughter’s support report, and saw financial support from this friend, it brought tears to my eyes. I was overwhelmed that the friend I prayed for all summer 21 years ago still knows the Lord and supported my daughter’s trip.

I didn’t think I had ever shared with my friend that I prayed for her all summer, so in my daughter’s thank you letter to her, I included the index card, and my daughter wrote the significance of the card and that I had prayed for her all summer those many years ago. This is what she wrote back to me, “Hi sweet friend, I just opened Ashlyn’s note to me and got your special gift, tears are running down my face, you are a special friend, a gift from God! Thank you for the precious reminder of how important prayer is!! We need to catch up soon, lots to share! Love you much!!!”

Just thought I would share how amazing it is to me that even 21 years later, God is still using the time at Royal Servants to bless my life, as well as those around me.
