Help Pay for College
If you raise more support than is required for your airfare, ground fees, and spending money you can have excess contributions paid to you as a stipend for your summer of service. You must have already completed one year of college study prior to your mission trip.
Excess contributions are not available for stipends to students who have just graduated or are still in high school.
Contributions for your trip, in excess of your trip needs, less a 10% administration fee, will be distributed upon request to you following the completion of your mission trip. The stipend must be requested in writing. The IRS allows those who participate as adults-following one year of college-to receive the stipend as wages. If you receive a stipend you will be required by the IRS to report the entire stipend as income on your taxes.
