Sierra Leone Mission Trip

The latest news, images, and video for the Sierra Leone mission trip.

About the Sierra Leone mission trip

  • Located in western Africa, Sierra Leone has a history of slavery, blood diamonds, brutal civil war, war crimes against humanity, and poverty.
  • The trip is not for the faint of heart.  It is hot, the students walk a lot, and they encounter extreme poverty and tragedy.
  • Sierra Leone was settled by former slaves from the United States and Canada.  It was the first West African country to be evangelized,  but after almost 200 years of effort it still remains 60 % Muslim and 25 % indigenous religions.
  • We serve local Youth for Christ staff who are partnering with pastors, churches, and missionaries to strategically reach out in this predominately Muslim country.
  • We train our students to share their faith and give them opportunities to talk with people who live without the hope of Jesus.
  • The team will visit and develop relationships with people in the slums, schools, parks, detention centers, handicapped homes, and orphanages.
  • Their ministry to present the gospel will include performing dramas dance or puppets.
