Health Insurance
You must be covered by medical insurance the entire time you are with Royal Servants. This is not optional. You must have health/medical insurance coverage for the both the Training Camp and the international portions of the trip. Many families will have plans that cover their children while they are in the United States but not once they get overseas. Check with your insurance agency if you you are not automatically covered they may offer a travel insurance option for a small fee. If you do not have health insurance or your current policy does not cover you while you are overseas you must purchase additional travel insurance. This is an inexpensive way to way to obtain short-term insurance. See a list of policies we know about »
Medications
You need to bring medication with you this summer. We recommend a pain reliever, Benadryl, and Dramamine (if needed). The Wisconsin State Department of Health Services requires that each medication is in its own container and is labeled to include the name of the participant, the name of the medication, the dosage, the frequency of administration, and the route of administration (orally, topically, etc.).
For prescription medication, the label must also have the name of the prescribing physicians, prescription number, date prescribed, possible reverse side-effects, and the conditions when it would be necessary to contact the physician. There is a Prescription Info Sheet, included in the forms folder of the Pre Packet, that will need to be filled out (there are 5 cards on each sheet, and only one card is needed per prescription). Also, if the prescription is in tablet form, make sure you count them to make sure there are enough. Sometimes pharmacies make mistakes!
The Wisconsin State Department of Health Services requires that all oral medication be kept by the leaders and dispersed by them as needed or prescribed. If you are allergic to something that requires an emergency injection, please make sure you send two kits: one to stay in your possession, and one to remain with leadership. In the case of asthma, make sure to send two inhalers. Also, if you need to carry an emergency EpiPen, please include two.
Note: Depending on the team, we may not be able to accommodate medications that need to be refrigerated. Please check with the Trip Leader to determine availability of refrigeration.
Medical Treatment and Out-of-Pocket Expenses
Although medical facilities vary in the countries we minister we place a high priority on each student’s physical well being. In the event of a sickness or injury that appears more than minor we will not hesitate to take a student into the doctor for further diagnosis.
Most health issues that may affect a person while on the mission are easily treated. During the summer a minor injury or mild sickness may occur. As noted above Reign Ministries will seek professional medical advice and take whatever medical steps necessary if a medical need arises.
If a student needs medical attention during the summer costs will be paid from their spending money. These expenses can be replaced by sending a check to the Reign Ministries office to cover the medical costs. Once the money has been received the funds will be added back into the students spending money. Reign Ministries will not deplete a student’s spending money if it is too late in the summer to reimburse the account or if that student is running low on spending money. In these cases the medical expense will be paid for by Reign Ministries and a bill will be mailed to you or your parents after the conclusion of the trip.
In the case of an unusually expensive hospital stay neither the participant nor the team will have enough cash to pay for the bill. In this case the hospitalized person or family member is responsible to reimburse the hospital directly.
In rare cases though a major illness or injury may necessitate a medical evacuation. In such a case one or both parents may need to join their child overseas to facilitate their care and transportation. This is extremely expensive. Most travel insurance policies have “emergency reunion” (getting you to them) and “medical evacuation/repatriation” (getting them home) coverage. If your home policy does not have such coverage we strongly suggest you consider it. Reign Ministries does not have the ability to cover medical evacuation of participants.
