Depending on God When Our Strength is Stripped Away

We all have our strengths. For some, it is a winning personality, physical ability, conversation skills, or a sense of direction. We all have things we naturally depend on. During these trips, sometimes those are stripped away.

Our team is praying that we grow in thinking and acting like Jesus. When God does that in our team, it can be challenging. Growth in one area also means change. Change is hard but necessary.

This past week, during our ministry outreach to high schools, we had a small injury to a team member that led to our main translator leaving four students alone in a classroom full of Spanish-speaking high schoolers. There was fear and despair at first, but what came after was a dependence on something outside of the student’s strength. The Holy Spirit stepped in. He spoke through our team, using God’s Word, which fills our team daily. Hearts were stirred on a normal Tuesday morning.

One student said, “I felt God’s presence as we answered questions about, “Why would we even want to come to a small mountain village?” The locals see our USA culture through the lens of Hollywood. They asked our team, “You have everything. Why come to be with us?” Our team shared their motivation; our love of God, and that they could experience that love also.

Just picture this, local high school kids talking with other high school kids about growing in Christ. Praise God!

The team is choosing to depend on the Holy Spirit to help them in life/ministry, not their own strength!

We are heading to dinner shortly and will dive into God’s Word later tonight.

Talk to you later!
