A New Training Camp for Royal Servants!

We have been leading Royal Servants mission trips for 28 years! And, for 28 years, we have been starting each trip with Training Camp.

Training Camp is essential to our mission work and significant things happen. Many of our alumni, often decades later, report back to us that Training Camp changed the direction of their lives. Students not only get to know their team, learn their ministry routines, and do hard things that prepare them for the field, many experience a deeper, richer relationship with Christ. Training Camp is not just a good idea, it is integral to our entire mission trip experience.

For 28 years, we have conducted Training Camp at rented facilities. For the last 13 years, Living Springs Camp near Lewistown, Illinois, was the Training Camp host where Royal Servants staff enjoyed a fantastic relationship and were allowed to make some minor improvements to facilitate our program. Nevertheless, the challenges, uncertainties, and limitations of renting land on a year-to-year basis hindered the vision to disciple more students and reach more people with the gospel than we ever have.

Several years ago, Reign Ministries started planning and looking ahead and decided to consider purchasing our own property. The advantages were many, and four years ago we found the right spot near Portage, Wisconsin. Now is the time to make the move. Next summer, God willing, we will be holding Training Camp on our new property. So, I thought I would give you a glimpse: View All Our Training Camp Photos In Flickr

Last fall we started taking the necessary steps to make the move. We developed a land use master plan.

This spring we had a couple of volunteer crews come and clean out the barn, tear down miscellaneous small buildings, and clear overgrowth.  We contracted with a local Amish builder to refurbish the barn.  It is going to become our new storage facility.  Marvin, the Amish builder, is on schedule, and the barn should be ready to store team gear by middle August.

Next, we plan to demolish the dilapidated farmhouse. We have a volunteer crew coming Monday to remove the siding.  Then the county fire department will burn the house as a training exercise.

Other needed preparations include removal of the old dry well, installation of a new well with sufficient capacity, soil percolation testing to determine drain field requirements… and the development of construction drawings for the required earthwork.

This is a very exciting stage in Reign Ministries’ history. I look forward to sharing more with you in the near future.
