Kenya Team Update 7/24

This one is going to be short, as it's currently 1:30am. My new catch phrase these last few days is, "Obama is ruining my life in Kenya." I know it's a bit extreme, and has nothing to do with Mr. Obama himself, but really only what the Kenyans are doing in preparation for his arrival here in Kenya.

The good news is that, according to the airlines, our flight is still scheduled on time. The bad news is that - T.I.A. (This is Africa), and I know I can't count on the flight staying that way. Also, we just found out a few hours ago that they have decided to close all roads leading in and out of the airport starting at 3pm (which could mean 2pm) until after 11pm. This means that in order to ensure that not only do we get to the airport before then, but we have to be early enough for our bus to get back out. And it means everyone that has a flight out will be trying to get to the airport at the same time.

We will need to leave about 11 am if we hope to make it on time. We are losing 4-5 hours of time that until 9 pm tonight we thought we had to pack and move out. The team was able to pack their personal stuff tonight, and with just barely 8 hours of sleep will need to get up, eat, clean, finish packing team items, and load the bus in just a few hours. They can certainly do it, no problem, it's just a bit more rushed than anticipated.

Other than that, the team had a great time at the Giraffe Centre yesterday (I know I did!!!) and an even better time just hanging out and spending time with the Kenyan team today. I know that I will miss the friends that I have made and both teams, that really in many ways were 1 team, are going to absolutely miss each other!

Alright, that's all for now. I've tweeted the President asking to borrow Air Force One if our flight gets delayed or canceled - so I'll be in touch about that too!

For the Kenyan Team!

Margaret

P.S. The latest from Margaret is "At the airport, checked into our flight, doing quiet time, and waiting for our flight that's been delayed until midnight." Please continue to pray that there are no cancellations.
