Western Europe

With your gear, tents, and team, you will haul across the beautiful European continent and engage in ministry in some of Europe’s largest and most unique cities. Traveling by coach (which is really a huge deluxe bus), you will begin your adventurous summer in London before moving on to Belgium, Germany, and a peaceful lakeside village in Austria.
Next stop on the adventure: the former communist Bloc countries of Slovenia and Croatia. You’ll then head west again, and after visiting several cities throughout northern Italy, you and your teammates will have a chance to catch your breath and relax in the beautiful mountain valley of Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland.
Desire a little culture? Your final destination will be Paris, France, where you’ll mix street ministry with cultural immersion; sample a crêpe in the Saint-Michel district, enjoy a view from the Eiffel Tower, or maybe say hello to the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. Experience the adventure that is Europe as you impact the crowds for Christ!

Many are surprised to learn that while Europe boasts some of the most amazing and beautiful churches in the world, only 2% of the population attend church on a regular basis. Perhaps even more surprising, Europe is actually considered to be one of the least evangelized continents in the world. Religion was something for the past and there’s little room for it now in modernity. It is because of this that we partner with local and established churches and organizations to ensure there is a place for follow-up and maximized impact in the little time we spend in each country. On the Western Europe Trip you will use dance, drama, puppets, community service, and intentional question surveys to engage people of all different faith backgrounds (i.e. atheists, agnostics, Muslims, Catholics, Protestants, and everything in between) in conversations about Christ, who He is, and what He has to offer the world. You’ll find that most Europeans love engaging in conversation and are quite open to asking hard questions and exploring new thoughts. Close
Be ready to dine on the cuisines of the many different countries you will visit this summer. We like to say that you’ll “taste your way through Europe” sampling things like: German brats, Polish kabobs, British fish & chips, French crêpes, Italian pasta, pizza, and the world’s best gelato (that’s Italian ice cream, and I’m serious when I say it’s the world’s best ice cream) in Verona, Italy. You will also learn how to cook a lot of food while in Europe. Breakfast usually includes either a bowl of Malto and oatmeal. If the Queen of England eats it once a week, we can definitely eat it 3 times a week. (In case you were wondering, her favorite flavor is maple.) Because we don’t want you to lose your American heritage, we also make sure to eat a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Don’t worry about food though, we buy all of our groceries in Europe, so you will get a chance to shop in grocery stores and eat like the locals. But be careful, some of the labels aren’t in English, and so what you might think is a delectable loaf of bread might actually be uncooked, self-rising bread. A mistake you only make once. And definitely speaking for a friend... Close
What you’ve learned at Training Camp is what you will be experiencing this summer. You’ll be taking your “home” with you every to campsite. That’s right! Your summer “vacation” home will be tents and church floors.   Imagine being able to wake up and stick your head out your tent and stare at a waterfall cascading through the Alps, to bask in the deep sunshine of France, or settle down for the night next to a beautiful lake in Austria. Yep, you’ll do that! And I know this sounds weird, but I promise, you will miss your tent when you return home from the summer!   However, while briefing in London, you’ll be staying at and working with a local church. And after sleeping in a tent for most of the summer, a church floor (complete with your travel sleeping mat) can feel very posh. Perspective is everything my friends. Close
If you like performing drama (or music or dance) performances, meeting new people, and talking about Christ, this mission trip might be the perfect fit for you. The Western Europe Trip might be for you if you also like to be on the move! You will be experiencing new countries, cultures, and people every two to three days; so while one day you’ll be hiking in the Swiss Alps, the next you will be swimming in the Adriatic Sea, and then it’s wandering through the alleys of medieval Prague.   If you have a spirit of adventure, crave new foods, and love amazing scenery, you’re going to enjoy this adventure. The Western Europe mission trip is the very definition of adventure. You will travel, explore, discover, take risks, and engage. Imagine, in a few short months, you could be on a ferry crossing the English Channel with the White Cliffs of Dover behind you and France emerging on the horizon, all while enjoying a delicious cappuccino from the ferry’s onboard café. Just a few days later, you could be climbing in the Swiss Alps, filling up your Nalgene from a waterfall, and stopping for a lunch of Swiss chocolate and fresh bread.   As you camp throughout Europe you’ll have the opportunity to make friends with people from all over the world. Experience the thrill of traveling on the Autobahn in Germany, stroll past historic cafes in Paris, and take a spin on the London Eye (a giant ferris wheel situated right on the famed Thames River). Imagine sharing Christ in not one but many of your dream destinations. Make sure you have a memory card big enough to capture the adventure Europe has for you. Close
Intentional discipleship, reading and studying the bible daily, understanding your identity in Christ, finding you’re uniquely wired for ministry, growing in relationship and community with your team (which will soon feel like family), and learning to depend on God in a whole new way, are just some of ways you will spiritually grow on the Western Europe mission trip.   There is something to partnering with other passionate believers, committing to a summer of service, and adventuring all throughout Europe that will bring a whole new meaning to the Gospel. If you haven’t already read all the other descriptions above, go back! You will find that this mission trip is unique. Your adventure across multiple countries, your stories of ministry, and the food you’ll eat will create a mosaic of experience that will live in you far beyond the summer.   Just to name a few, zigzagging across Western Europe you will encounter things like:
  • Buckingham Palace in London
  • The coliseum in Pula, Croatia (an ancient Roman port)
  • A small village in the Swiss/German Alps of Switzerland and their majestic mountains
  • Crêpes at the Eiffel Tower (nutella is my personal favorite!)
  • The beauty of Notre Dame (minus the cool, but slightly creepy, hunchback)
  • Winston Churchhill’s Cabinet Rooms (he’s the British guy with the cigar from WW2)
  • Tea and biscuits in London
dscn2798On this trip you'll be working in cities across Europe. Part of the experience of the Western Europe Trip is to learn how to engage a new location and develop ministry from scratch. It is always exciting to see how God provides unique opportunities, whether that be from serving a community, to holding ministry performances in campsites and city squares.

After engaging in ministry while blazing across Europe, your team will spend a week partnering with a local church in London. You will have an opportunity to be a part of several church services and serve the local community through outreach and service projects.

debriefWe’ll take a few days to debrief your summer experience and spiritually prepare you for going home towards the end of the mission trip. You’ll take time to reflect, journal, pray, and plan. We want you to be successful as you take the necessary tools that you’ve learned over the summer and learn how to apply them back home. During this time, we will also take a couple days to relax and enjoy some of the sights. Debriefing time is a sweet way to end your summer and it will propel you forward as you continue to walk with Christ long after your mission trip ends. Close
